About Dr. Bailey:
Dr. Robert S. Bailey, Jr. joined Dr. Thorp in the practice of Ophthalmology in 1984. He was raised in the Philadelphia area, and was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Lafayette College in Easton, PA, where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology. He attended Hahnemann Medical College, and completed his MD. His Internship was served at Crozer-Chester Medical Center. His Ophthalmology Residency was at Wills Eye Hospital, where he was elected to serve as Co-Chief Resident. Upon completion of his residency, he began private practice in Comprehensive Ophthalmology.
Dr. Bailey is a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is an active medical staff member of Wills Eye Hospital, where he is the Chief of the Cataract and Primary Eye Care Service. He is also on active staff at Chestnut Hill Hospital, and currently serves as Chief of its Division of Ophthalmology. He serves on numerous committees at Wills, and has an integral role there in teaching surgery to Ophthalmology residents. He is a Clinical Associate Professor at Thomas Jefferson University. His numerous publications, presentations, and lectures focus on cataract and anterior segment surgery and their complications. Dr. Bailey’s practice emphasizes excellence in cataract surgery in both routine and high-risk patients. He also provides meticulous diagnosis and treatment of comprehensive ophthalmology patients.
